Camp Wavelength Day 1

For the first time, Wavelength Toronto is hosting Camp Wavelength at Artscape Gibraltar Point on the Toronto Islands.  A three day music and arts festival where festival-goers are able to camp out overnight with the bands and enjoy local music and art installations.  Everything kicks off tonight and here are my choices of who to check out.

Dirty Frigs

Local psych garage rockers Dirty Frigs have been making waves since their start in 2012 and have just been growing since.  Lead singer Bria Salmena is haunting on stage, with a vocal range from murmuring to melodic screams which mesmerized me back in May at their CMW show.  Looking forward to seeing what they are going to do tonight, as well as what they are going to say during our interview.

Doldrums

Electronic group Doldrums will be bringing some trippy beats and interesting instruments to Camp Wavelength to get everyone up and moving, promoting their newest album.  They have been getting crowds across North America to sway, bounce and dance to their unique blend of psych, trance and electronic.

Holy Fuck

Toronto heavyweights Holy fuck return after a hiatus of the past few years for Camp Wavelength.  A very unique electronic group, who don’t use laptops or looping devices, they create their spacey grooves live on stage, using a variety of different methods and instruments.  This is going to be a performance to remember for sure.
