VIDEO: Canyon by Torero

The first time I saw Torero was at the Blue Sky Miners EP release back in October 2015. But there was so much going on that night that they didn’t stick…That is until I saw their band name on the lineup opening for another band I’m quite fond of, Union Duke. Because of that I went early to catch them, and I was not disappointed at all. They’re a fantastic act and if you get the chance to see them, you should.

They’ve recently released a new “old-time-y western” music video for their dreamy country/roots/rock song Canyon, which is off their 2015 self-titled debut. Really the first thing that came to mind was if Alvvays was a country/roots band. But that probably doesn’t quite do them justice, and doesn’t apply to the album as a whole.

The video itself, directed by Ryan Thompson, really has a cinematic feel to it. From the colouring/filter, the camera angles, and the lettering of the bookend titling, it has the feel that old western movies have. Watch the video for Canyon below.

The band’s live show is just as fun, and you can catch them on the road this summer in any of the cities below.
