NEW: Quarters by Lost Cousins

Lost Cousins are back!

Hot off a tour with Close Talker that included dates in Kingston, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Fredericton and Halifax, the Toronto psych-rock quartet has just released their brand new single, “Quarters”. This is the band’s first new release since their debut EP, Not Now What We Were (2015).

“Quarters” was recorded at Royal Mountain Studios, produced by Nixon Boyd (Hollerado, Stella Ella Ola) and mastered by Noah Mintz (The National, Broken Social Scene).

The song explores:

“The Struggle to find purpose in a life path that not everyone can relate to.” … “[Getting] out of your own head and into places where you can truly explore your surroundings.” … “[Stepping] out of your comfort zone.” … “Accepting transformation, and embracing the highs and lows that go hand in hand with experiencing new perspectives.”

These themes are very well explored with this dreamy soulful psychedelic tune. I find them especially relatable, since it’s rare, especially for millennials, to constantly be happy with the choices we’ve made for ourselves. Finding purpose and meaning in our day to day lives as well as our long term goals/big picture is not usually an easy task and dreams, or in this case a dreamy song, are a common way that we deal with these issues.

You can check out the tune here and on most other major streaming services/platforms.

For a prime listening experience, I recommend keeping the lights off, opening the closest window(s) and letting the sun pour into the room you’re in. Sit back, close your eyes, and let the music guide you.

Catch the band’s high energy live performance at the following festivals and other shows this summer:
