All month we’ve been premiering Bloody Diamonds‘ video series Tough Love Live Sessions. If you haven’t seen them yet, you can check them out here, here and here. All of the videos were filmed live off the floor at Manantler Craft Brewing Co. in Bowmanville, ON, prior to the band leaving on a cross-Canada tour.
So far, we’ve debuted three videos from that session accompanied by some thoughts on each track by the band’s lead vocalist, Sara Elizabeth.
Here’s what she had to say about the fourth track, “Medicine”
This song was a last minute addition to the record, and definitely one of the more “different” songs we’ve written. It was inspired by The Dead Weather, with their tempo changes and heavy breakdowns. They’ve always been a huge influence for us. It’s a super fun song to play live!
This is probably my favourite track on the EP, and so I’m thankful that it was added, even at the last minute. The influence of Jack White, and the Dead Weather can definitely be seen, but the band puts their own twist on it. The stopping and starting during the verses is probably my favourite part.
Although Bloody Diamonds have now wrapped up their tour, they still have one more show booked. You can see them play where this video series was filmed, this Saturday (October 29th, 2016) at Manantler Craft Brewing Co.
